Office Supplies Your Business Needs

Whether you’re working from home or on a steady commute to your office every morning, it is important to have access to office supplies while you are working. Office supplies encompass a wide spectrum of products that can help make your life easier and your business more productive. In this short article, I hope to provide you with a small list of office supplies that will help you complete your tasks at work.



One thing that I cannot function without in my office is a planner. Planners are important to keep yourself on track and keep your thoughts and ideas organized. While there are online calendars that I like to use, like Google calendar, having a pen on paper set up on the edge of my desk is always essential for me to feel like I am staying on top of things. In my planner, I write things like my daily schedule, meetings, tasks, responsibilities, and other important things that may come up throughout the day. For example, today, I have written on my calendar that I need to write 12 articles for a client at work. After I finish those, I can check off that box and be done with it. This is a great feeling that definitely helps me mentally focus and feel accomplished. 


Some office supplies that are not very often thought about are snacks and drinks on hand to have while working. Here’s the thing, employees are ultimately more productive if they feel comfortable and valued in their work setting. Critically, increasing the quality of life in small ways that benefit employees will be a surefire way to increase productivity along with job satisfaction. At my place of employment, our supervisor takes requests for snacks and drinks on the regular and then uses InstaCart to order stuff for the office. That way, we have access to teas, sodas, candy, snacks, or other treats as we work. While this may not sound like much, it definitely helps the place to feel more welcoming and allows employees to feel more comfortable in their work environment.


Packaging and shipping supplies, like cardboard boxes, are also great to have on hand. Even if you’re not working in a distribution center or warehouse, having these supplies is still necessary to any business. The world still uses snail mail for a lot of different reasons, and businesses must be able to mail packages or letters to business clients or customers on the regular. Having cardboard boxes, packing tape, and envelopes on hand is something that all businesses should be doing. That way, no one has to be scrambling or worrying about those items when you suddenly have to ship something off to a partner or client.



COVID19 has made it harder for businesses to operate everywhere, and many people have found themselves working from home during the pandemic. In order to combat the productivity that’s lost in these areas, make sure to be making efficient use of your time by having purchased office supplies that your business will need. Remember that giving your employees a higher quality of work-life at the office and at home will yield greater results in productivity and efficiency. You are employing people, not robots, and people react well to incentives and being treated with respect.
