Pandemic Problems

2020 was a rough year, to say the least. Due to the COVID19 pandemic, people found themselves stuck in their homes with lots of time to do just about anything they want, besides go outside, of course. That’s right, 2020 was the year for hermits. If you wanted to go a week or two without seeing anybody at all, you could totally do that. It was a very strange and stressful time to be alive. The pandemic also brought on a lot of different changes to the markets and business sectors of America. People were sent home from their places of work in flocks. Restaurants closed down, small businesses were closed, and most public places or events were canceled for just about the entire summer and into winter. It was a weird time for everyone. It was even harder for those who were infected with the virus and had to endure the loss of a loved one.

For me personally, I found myself stuck at home doing online school. I very much enjoyed going to college on campus and being in the company of my friends and faculty at school. I enjoy eating with my friends, going to in-person classes, and attending school events across campus. However, in March of 2020, we were sent home by the school and were forced to continue school online. I’m not one for an online school, especially in March when school is just about over for the year. That’s the point when motivation starts to drop off, and it can be hard to do even the slightest bit of work. I was sent home back to Michigan to finish off my semester online. I was stuck at home with my parents and my dog for the foreseeable future, and things only got worse when my sister and brother-in-law moved in. I had to quickly pack up all my belongings into cardboard boxes and move out of my dorm as fast as possible when I left school, so I didn’t have a lot of time to organize things the way I would have liked to.

Being home was rough for the first couple of months. My house was cramped with the new additions of myself, my sister, and her husband. I finished my online school relatively quickly and spent a lot of my time afterward doing absolutely nothing. In order to fill the time, I bought a new gaming computer online. It took me a while to find the right one, and I paid a pretty penny in order to get a good quality one. However, when I finally received it after weeks of delay, it was totally worth it. The computer came in a massive cardboard box with a bunch of smaller cardboard boxes inside it holding various chords, instructionals, and a random assortment of other items.

After getting my computer, I started to spend way too much time playing video games. I didn’t have a job because nobody was hiring, and I had already finished school for the semester. I quite literally had nothing to do. So to kill time, I played countless hours of video games in the span of weeks. Eventually, I found a job and got on with the rest of the summer, but I still really enjoy that computer and probably would not have bought it had it not been for the COVID lockdown.
